Things You May (or May Not) Know About Me as Your Stylist

How Swan Styles Came to Be

Being a hairstylist wasn’t actually my first choice. Back in 2015, I received a gold medal for a styled braiding competition at Skills Canada, and that moment definitely planted a seed — even if I didn’t fully realize it at the time.

The name Swan Styles came together in the most unexpected way. I overheard someone say, “Hey, Paige Swan styles hair!” and it immediately clicked. I went home, made the social media accounts, and just like that, Swan Styles was born.

Becoming Self-Employed (Early & Headfirst)

I’ve been self-employed since I was 18. I chair-rented right out of training and jumped in headfirst. In 2021, I took a year away from doing hair full-time for health reasons. I came back in 2022 ready to hustle again. During that break, I worked as a parts technician at Pattison Agriculture — and honestly, it was a really nice reset from salon life.

Life Outside the Salon

Outside of hair, I absolutely love to hunt. A couple of years ago, I checked off a bucket-list hunt and harvested my first black bear with a crossbow. I also write a poem or riddle for every animal I’ve taken. Don’t ask me why — it’s a tradition now, and it somehow started with a Shania Twain song 😅

You won’t usually catch me fishing unless I can tan or we’re at Fishing Lake. I love starting young horses, putting their first rides on them, and setting them up for success right from the beginning.

Love, Marriage & Family

I met my husband during the 2022 freedom protests and trucker convoy. We fell in love fast — dating within a month, engaged seven months in, and married a year later. When I met him, there was an immediate connection that I tried to deny for as long as I could. He became my best friend instantly and still feels like home to me. I truly couldn’t imagine my life without him.

I’m a mom to the cutest little boy. Yes, we named him after our grandfathers — we call him TJ. My labour, delivery, and postpartum journey were nothing like I expected. We were incredibly blessed with support, but the hormonal shift was tough, and I’ll never pretend otherwise.

Dogs, Projects & That “How Hard Can It Be?” Gene

I’m also a proud dog mom to Riggs and Hobbs.

I definitely have the “how hard can it be?” gene — which is wildly delusional and the reason I started way too many renovations while pregnant. Any time TJ is napping, you can usually find me cleaning, painting, or starting another project. Don’t worry — Jo is very used to coming home to surprises by now 😅

Faith, Coffee & Learning

I love learning and drink way too much coffee while doing it. I have seven tattoos that mark significant moments in my life — with more to come, I’m sure.

I am a Christian and believe in the morals and values taught in the Bible. I also believe that everyone has their own unique testimony that God is working on, and it’s not for anyone else’s judgment or opinion.

Looking Ahead

Most days, I’d rather be on my deck with a coffee, my husband smoking a brisket, our dogs running around, and TJ close by than out and about anywhere else.

Career-wise, my dream is to travel to other countries doing hair for brides during the winter months — getting my travel fix while still doing what I love 😊
